Brice Marden

Brice Marden won acclaim in the 1960s and '70s for luminous monochrome panels, at first in a subtle palette of grays and muted hues, then in brighter, richer colors and ambitious multicanvas combinations. In the mid-1980s he began to paint calligraphic markings embedded in shimmering grounds, and in the past decade his work has again taken on more heightened color.
